2000: On the Face of it.

Allure, titillate, seduce, tantalize; these are labels that, on the face of it often signify sexualised femininity within our heteronormative society. These same labels, arbitrarily assigned to the painted faces in this exhibition deliberately skew those meanings, going beyond and beneath them to expose new ways of reading and revisioning the female face.
